HyNet partners, Essar UK, have announced their plan to build a £360mn carbon capture plant at its Stanlow Manufacturing Complex.
The plant will use HyNet’s infrastructure to lock away an estimated 0.81 million tons of carbon dioxide each year – the equivalent of taking 400,000 cars off the road.
This will eliminate nearly 40% of all Stanlow emissions as Essar invests over £1 billion to decarbonise its production processes to become a leading low carbon refinery in UK by 2030.
