Encyclis commences hot commissioning at their Protos ERF plant

Encyclis hits a major milestone twith the start of hot commissioning at the Protos Energy Recovery Facility near Helsby.

The plant will process up to 500,000 tonnes per year of residual waste, converting it into continuous baseload electricity and recovering resources such as aggregates and metals for re-use. Protos ERF is aiming to be the first fully decarbonised Energy-from-Waste facility in the UK and work is underway to develop the adjacent carbon capture facility.

Protos ERF is aiming to be ready for the first delivery of waste this summer. Encyclis have already recruited more than 40 operations and maintenance personnel, 95% are based in the local area, including 4 apprentices who have been selected as part of their regional apprentice programme.
