Contractors announced for HyNet’s CCS infrastructure

Following the recent announcements from the Prime Minister of the UK that HyNet’s capture capture and storage system can officially begin construction, contractors have now been announced.

United Living Group, Rosetti Marino and Saipem have been appointed to construct HyNet’s carbon capture pipeline and storage system and begin the first phase of construction. This marks the start of real, on-the-ground work with the majority of contracts being placed locally.

United Living has already created 50 jobs and anticipates adding another 300 positions over the next two years through this project. Additionally, its direct supply chain is expected to create a further 300 jobs. This demonstrates the company’s dedication to supporting local skill development and actively engaging with the community. United Living is going to be working on the carbon capture pipeline.

Rosetti Marino will deliver four platforms to be used for carbon dioxide (CO2) storage in the depleted gas reservoirs.

Saipem will construct and commission the Point of Ayr Compression Station. This new facility will be integrated with both the offshore and onshore segments delivered by United Living and Rosetti Marino. Saipem will procure over 1,000 local roles to be involved during the construction period.

HyNet will create thousands of jobs over the coming years, helping to grow the low carbon economy across North West and North Wales industry.
