Cheshire College leads the way in green apprenticeship training

Cheshire College – South & West has launched a new range of green apprenticeship programmes, with a strong focus on groundwork and pipe fitting—two critical trades driving the UK’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

With pressure mounting on businesses to reduce carbon emissions and operate more sustainably, Cheshire College is committed to offering green apprenticeships, vital in addressing future skills shortages and boosting staff retention.

These apprenticeships have been tailored to help businesses build a skilled workforce with practical skills. Each programme equips apprentices with the hands-on expertise needed to meet environmental targets, drive innovation, and support real progress toward national sustainability goals.

New green apprenticeship opportunities include:

  • Groundworker (Level 2): An 18-month programme covering sustainable construction and groundwork techniques.
  • Pipe Fitter – Engineering Construction (Level 3): A 36-month course developing expertise in industrial piping systems for green infrastructure.
  • Dual Fuel Smart Meter Installer (Level 2): A 14-month course that supports the UK’s smart energy transition.
  • Low Carbon Heating Technician (Level 3): A 36-month programme focusing on the installation and maintenance of eco-friendly heating systems.
  • These apprenticeships are a great way for businesses to upskill their existing teams or bring in new talent to meet environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives. They also offer access to government funding, making it easier for employers to invest in sustainable growth.

If you want to stay ahead of the curve, a green apprenticeship could be the perfect solution for your business. For more information, please call 01244 656555 (Chester and Ellesmere Port Campuses) or 01270 654654 (Crewe Campus) or send an email to employers@ccsw.ac.uk
